May and My Mother in Law

I think about my mother in law a lot. I have never met her and I never will. Sure, people share information about her. Not enough for me though. I  like to know what motivates people. What does not. What they think is beautiful and what scares them. It is weird when a person I have never met has impacted the one I spend the most time with.

Questions I Would Ask My Mother in Law

She went to back to school to earn her Master’s Degree after she had five children. I mean what was that like? How is that possible? She graduated with her degree in Library Science. She worked in Denver as a Librarian, which should be one of the most honored jobs one can have. Which classes did she like best?  She attended the University Of Colorado in Boulder. Did she drive there for class or did she take the bus?

May and Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is May 13th this year. I am always grateful for my mother and the things she has taught me. She inspires me. She continues to be a better person. She volunteers at a school in her hometown, helping young students with grammar. She practices yoga. She is still open to figuring out who she is. I feel lucky to witness it.

Who Would My Mother In Law Be?

I wonder if my Mother In Law would still be working. Would she be spending time figuring out who she is? Would she and I get along? People say yes, she would love you. But they can say anything they want. We will never know. She does inspire me and I am grateful for that. I think she is not gone, because she is always with me.

Yes, Mother. I can see you are flawed. You have not hidden it. That is your greatest gift to me-Alice Walker
