The 2016 Presidential Election and Anxiety
The 2016 Presidential Election will be happening in the United States next week. I have blogged about how exposure to social media and the news might be creating anxiety for some people. Last week I posted some suggestions for limiting time on social media, un-following certain posts or friends and focusing on full deep breaths.

A reporter from Time Magazine called me last week to ask my thoughts about the impact the election might be having on women. This topic comes up every day with colleagues, friends, at the gym and yes it is impacting clients. My comments to her were that women who are feeling unsafe or have been harmed in any way may feel threatened by the unfortunate focus of the current political climate. It is no secret that oppression exists. Our global community is challenged every single day by what one group believes to be the “right” way. Women have created every single person in this world and continue to do so. Why should they be threatened or disrespected in any way?
Suggestions to Deal with Anxiety Created by the Presidential Election
Some suggestions for dealing with anxiety, this election season are: un-follow certain posts or friends, limit your exposure to social media and the news in whatever form it takes in your life, go or look outside, take deep breaths, talk to a friend or call a counselor for help. Reaching out and asking for help is a sign of strength!
