Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

I attended a two day training for Dialectical Behavioral Training with Noeticus  Counseling Center.  I was drawn to this training because the DBT model is designed to help clients learn and practice basic tools for managing self-harming or self destructive behaviors, intrusive thoughts, intense overwhelming feelings and other painful experiences.  “We do not have control over early environment(childhood for example) but we have control over current environment.”  This quote is helpful when working with clients that are struggling to move forward and make sense of how what has happened to them impacts who they are.

At Joanna Ford Counseling I encounter clients that are struggling with past experiences that create feelings of depression and anxiety. These experiences are part of who we are, but not all of who we are.  Coping skills can be practiced to help with depression and anxiety.
