Grief

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.

I find this particularly true today, as a friend and neighbor died. I spoke with him everyday. Sometimes we would simply comment on the weather and sometimes we would share stories about ourselves.

He shared positive energy with me every single time I saw him. I might complain about the traffic or the “pods” falling from my tree. Yet he never wavered. He would tell me that someone always has it worse than us. He was dealing with health issues (although he rarely spoke about his health) far worse that any traffic jam.

I believe that all beings are connected and he made me feel connected. I am grateful for that. I will miss him. I still look for him on his front porch and remember the love he shared with me.

Joanna Ford Counseling encourages individuals that are experiencing pain from a loss of a loved one to be easy on themselves.  A ritual that can make one feel connected to a loved one is to light a candle in your home  to honor the person.
