According to Michael P. Nichols in his book, “Family Therapy: Concepts and Methods,”

Solution Focused Therapy is a commitment to the belief that individuals and families have the ability to construct solutions that can enhance their lives. Because success builds on itself, solution focused therapists see modest goals as the beginning of change. The task of solution focused therapy is to help clients amplify exceptions to their problems. Setting goals and focusing on strengths and what is working is important. The client-counselor relationship is an important aspect and has led to a greater collaboration with clients.
